Polyester Staple Fiber:-
Polyester staple fiber production decreased by 6% in 2006 from the previous year to 11.3 million tons. As in the case of polyester filament, production in China rose by 15%, and its share rose to 53% from 48% in the previous year. Production in India grew by 19% to 730,000 tons; as a result, India overtook Taiwan to become the third largest producer. Production in Taiwan dropped by 14% due to a decrease in exports. Production decreased slightly in Korea and Western Europe. U.S. production fell by 8% due to decreases in spinning and fiberfill applications.
