Wet-on-wet method (pad-pad-steam):-
The fabric is padded with a dye solution and then with a dilute solution of alkali and salt before steaming to achieve dye-fiber fixation. This wet-on-wet sequence can lead to a serious problem of dye bleeding into the alkali bath even at high salt concentration. This method is used for towels and pile fabrics, giving higher levels of fixation in fuller shades than when the pad-steam sequence is used.
