Because of its low wet strength, must be processed under minimum tension at all stages of preparation. Skeins contain few impurities and require only light scouring. Piece goods may contain scratcher sizing compounds applied prior to weaving and may require an open-width enzyme desizing followed by scouring, either in open width or in rope form, depending upon fabric construction and weight
