The dyebath is prepared at 140-1600F with : (1) 8% of sulphuric acid, 66 degree Be, when no assistant is employed; less acid makes levelling difficult, especially with light shades, higher concentrations that 8% are too severe: or (2) 3-5% of sulphuric acid, 66 degree Be and 2-3% of Palatine Fast Salt N Conc. Powder (General Aniline & Film Corpn.) or 2-3% of Nacconol NR (Allied Chemical Corpn.) for good penetration on mixed and tippy wools and on yarns. The goods are entered at 105-1200F, the temperature is raised to the boil in 30 min. and boiling is continued for 1.5-2 hr.
