Most direct dyeings can be more or less improved in wetfastness, subsequent to dyeing and rinsing, by aftertreatment in a fresh bath for 15-30 min. at 70-1500F with 1-8% of aftertreating agent owf; the exact conditions are given by the manufacturers of particular products. In some instances it is recommended that a pint of 28% acetic acid be added to 100 gal of treating bath.
