Organic Fixing Agents:-

These aftertreating agents are of two kinds: (a) those that only fix the dye and (b) those that fix the dye and simultaneously give a softening effect of the textile. Unfortunately, the great majority of products offered as dye fixatives impairs the lightfastness of most dyeings to some degree, some are quite harmful in the respect. Often there is also an accompanying change in the shade of the dyeing. These dye-fixing agent act by virtue of the insolubilizing effect of the cation-active substance on an anionactive dye, the union being due to electrovalence. The effect of the fixing agent is also too easily removed by an alkali scour, to which even complex ammonium type compound are not stable.
