REACTIVE DYES -1

by : --

The introduction of new types of dyes—the reactive dyes in 1956 by ICI in England marked a new land mark in the development of synthetic dyestuffs. These were the Procion dyes based on chlorotriazine dyes. Subsequently other dyestuff manufactures introduced reactive dyes based on this as well as other reactive systems based on vinyl sulphone, chloropyrimidine, quinoxaline, vinyle sulphonamide etc.
Reactive dyes belonging to chloratriazine group are manufactured by reacting cyanuric chloride either with an azo dye or an anthraquinone dye containing an amino group or with an intermediate containing two amino groups followed by diazotising  and coupling with a suitable coupling component.
