The charge from (a) above is added in 4-5 parts to a jacked 2,600 litre iron reducer containing 1,300 Kg. of iron filings at 250-400C. After each addition, 100-150 Kg. of iron filings are added to replace those consumed. When the reduction is complete, the contents are filtered into a 1,600 litre wooden tub provided with an iron stirrer and iron brine coil.
