Synthesis of dye - 1

by : --

1-Amino-5-benzamidoanthraquinone [7] was diazotized using nitrosylsulphuric acid and coupled with 5-acetamido-2-methoxy-(N,N-diethyl) aniline [3a] at pH 4-5. After completion of coupling, the dye was filtered, washed acid free and dried to obtain dye [9a].
The product was confirmed as follows.
i.    Melting point: 2060C.
ii.    The elemental analysis was in agreement with the molecular formula C34H31N5O5
iii.    I.R spectra of the product recorded in KBr showed following peaks (in cm-1)
a.    Presence of peak at 1610 cm-1 corresponding to (>C=O) group.
b.    Presence of peak at 1520 cm-1 corresponding to azo (-N=N-) linkage.
c.    Absence of amino group peak
